The Rifugio Lavaredo is located at the foot of the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Rifugio Lavaredo was built in by the mountain guide Francesco Corte Colò Mazzetta, a pioneer of mountain rescue in the Tre Cime di Lavaredo since the early s and one of the founders of the Auronzo Mountain Rescue Service. Thanks to its favorable location, it is an excellent approach point for most of the ascents to the Lavaredo Peaks, which have been attracting climbers and hikers from around the world for their majestic and spectacular walls since the midth century.
The Rifugio offers stunning views and the opportunity to visit the area through the trails, via ferratas and World War I walkways. It is also a location for rescue and helicopter rescue operations.
